Measure Your Ring Size. . .It might be easier than you think
Know Your Ring Size - Hand with rings on every finger

Love rings, but aren’t 100% sure of your ring size? You are not alone! It is one of the most common concerns I hear from customers. The good news is that figuring out how to size your finger is probably easier than you think. You might even kick yourself for not doing it sooner.

Ring sizers are cheap, and readily available on Amazon. Just order one up and start trying them on until you find the fit you like. The size is written on the stem of each sample ring, usually where it attaches to the cable. If there’s a little dash next to it, it's a half size. No dash, whole size.

For the bargain price of less than $10, and without leaving the house, you will know the size of all ten of your fingers. You will also be able to double check down the line, if you think your finger size may have changed due to arthritis, pregnancy, or an injury. You can just stick the sizer in a drawer, it doesn’t take up much space, and it will be there when you need it.

You could even loan it around throughout your friend group to spread some good will and amortize your investment. I bet a lot of your friends would be grateful!

Another option for getting an accurate size for your finger is your friendly neighborhood jewelry store. The kind of place that sells engagement rings. Just find a staff member who isn’t busy and ask them to help you, they will certainly have a sizer behind the counter. Then make sure to enter what you have learned into the notes app on your phone, or send yourself an email with a big bold subject like “My Ring Sizes” so you can refer back to it when you need to.

The world of jewelry really opens up to you when you know your ring size. Purchase with confidence for yourself with no more frustrating and time consuming exchanges. You will also be able to easily share this necessary information with loved ones who might want to buy you rings as gifts. And we all want to make it easier for people to buy us presents, right??

A couple things to think about:

Statement Rings or Stacks:

When ordering a wide ring, or a ring stack, consider going up a half a size. Because of the way a stack or wide ring takes up more of the real estate on your finger it won’t all sit on the narrowest part, which is usually right at the base of your finger.

Asymmetry:

Be sure to size the fingers on both hands. Our fingers on each hand are often not quite the same. Our dominant hands tend to be a little bit bigger. So if you want to wear rings on both hands, it’s good to know all the sizes, and how one hand might differ from the other.

The weather:

You’ve probably noticed that your fingers swell in hot weather, especially if you have been out walking, exercising or doing something active. So bear that in mind when you size your finger.
